Dr. Claire Hinnell

Neurologist
Dr. Claire Hinnell received her medical degree from the University of British Columbia and completed her neurology residency at the University of Calgary. She moved to London, UK to complete a fellowship in Movement Disorders at King’s College London. She returned to the Lower Mainland and completed a second year of fellowship at the UBC Movement Disorders Clinic. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC).
After completing her training, she moved to the Fraser Health Authority, starting the Fraser Health Movement Disorders Clinic based out of the Jim Pattison Outpatient Centre in Surrey, growing it into a multidisciplinary clinic providing subspecialty care to patients with Parkinson’s disease, tremor, ataxia, dystonia and other movement disorders. She also continues to provide general neurology care for patients with a variety of neurologic symptoms. Her main clinical goals are improving patient experiences in the health care system and optimizing patients’ quality of life.
Dr Hinnell is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia and is involved in medical education of students and residents.
In her downtime, she likes to be physically active outside or curled up on a couch reading a good book.
