Dr. C. Preet Chahal completed his neurology residency training at the Seton Hall University New Jersey Neuroscience Institute. He served as a Chief Resident in his final year of his residency training before moving to Winston Salem, North Carolina to complete a yearlong fellowship in Neuromuscular medicine at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM). He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) and the American Academy of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM).

After completing his training in 2010, he moved back to the lower mainland and joined Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) in Fraser Health Authority as an Attending Neurologist. He is one of the founding members of the Fraser Health Stroke Service based at RCH. His areas of clinical interest include neuromuscular diseases, headache disorders, stroke/vascular diseases and traumatic brain injury/concussion.

He is a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Division of Neurology at UBC Department of Medicine and is actively involved in medical education of students and residents. He is also the medical director of the Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) Neurodiagnostics Program.

His research interests include use of ultrasound in diagnosis and management of peripheral nerve disorders. He is also keenly involved in community initiatives to increase awareness of the neurological conditions with a goal of promoting timely access to care leading to improved outcomes.
